Popcorn (fka Opcorn)

I couldn't help taking pictures of Nick helping Brian make popcorn on Sunday...the memories...

He was about 2 years old and you just had to mention popcorn and he would get excited, run to the pantry and point to the popcorn maker shouting "Op-corn Opcorn". My little muffin...how time has flown by!

(trying to catch up) Last week Friday...

So last week Friday, I definitely took the best day off of work - it was sunny and hot - a beautiful day.

To start our day, Nicholas had his Kindergarten visit...then we had lunch at McD's and then his Dr apt in the afternoon. When Brian came home with Nate, we were outside playing, mowing the lawn and just enjoying the day; not coming in until well after dark. Even then, it was a quick tubbie and we were back outside for a bonfire and smores. What a great day!!

So the chalk gun that Nick got for his birthday worked for all of 20 seconds-despite trying out 5 sets of batteries...

...so it was on to the more traditional!

Well, Nate has been on the mend all day...and I think we are in the clear.

I have been briefed all day that we started with crackers, had a couple of bits of hot dog and finally ate a half of a sandwich - all of it staying where it belongs - WOOHOO!

Now lets hope the rest of us stay healthy.

Sick baby...

So today I am home with a sick little man... not exactly the day off I have been wanting/envisioning as of late!

My apologies to the moms/little guys he was around last night as we did not know this was coming on (do we ever?)!

Nonetheless, if it makes anyone feel better, here has been our morning so far...

Nate shows up bedside at about 5:55 a.m. - I haul him into bed beside me knowing that I have a couple of more minutes before I need to hit the shower - I roll over trying to rest just a few more minutes when I hear some gagging and my boy gets sick all over my pillow. At the moment he is on outfit #3 of the day

In between being sick though, is a generally happy little guy who continues to want to stay hydrated - good for him and me - bad for the carpet and the washing machine.

I'm telling you - days like these would make excellent birth control for teens!!

~~~~~SICK BABY UPDATE~~~~~

So it is now 6:30 p.m. - we are on outfit #3 for me and #7 for him. Yes, this has been a great day (can you read the sarcasm?).

Brian is about to take Nick to get his hair cut. I told him that when he comes back, the next shift is his.

Easter Weekend.

We had such a great weekend with the Beckers driving down to join us! Even though I had to work on Sat. - the kids loved the fact that they could come down and "drive" the tractors! Because of Jim & Jason, Brian got a ton of projects done around the house (we are now ready for the trees to be delivered and our garden to begin among other things), and because of Michelle & Alexis, Halley had her hair cut and had a ton of exercise! Sunday of course was church and such good food and to top it all off, the Easter egg hunt!! We all had such a great weekend...we miss you already!

the Dentist - part 1

So tonight we had to talk to Nick about his upcoming trip to the dentist. This of course initially brought on the tears and the "I'm scared", however after telling him about the special chair, and the light that shines in your mouth and the opening wide...he is all in - or so he says. Tomorrow will tell...

...Nicholas did great! He was a bit apprehensive of the tools and the saliva sucker (?), but his teeth were cleaned and we are cavity free!!

Nicks Birthday Party - 3/8

On March 8th, Nick had his first "friend" birthday party with a couple of boys from his pre-school class joining him for bowling, cake and all-over CRAZINESS!! Talk about boucing off the walls - and there were only three of them (plus the Tator)! They all had a great time though and Nick is still talking about it!

Way Behind

Ok, so I'm way behind on blogging and posting pictures - new camera, new photo program and way to hectic of a life...but I will learn, I will do and I will pare down...at some point. Until then...

Hit the 9!

For Christmas, we had given Nick a set of golf clubs. I remember when he opened them that he was really excited and wanted to play with them; to which I responded "We have to wait until there isn't any snow on the ground buddy!"

Well, that day was here on Sunday!

Nicholas asked Brian and I if we wanted to go outside - we both said no (yeah yeah, bad parents!). I told Nick that if he wanted to get his coat and shoes and gloves on, that he could go out by himself. Less than 5 min. later he was ready to go. His only request..."Mom, I need my golf clubs because there's no snow!"

So while it was freezing out...there wasn't any snow on the ground...therefore it was time to play golf!

Our Weekend.

*We went to the Grant School Carnival on Friday night. As we were leaving, Nick was so focused on eating his popcorn that he fell on the sidewalk and now has a huge red/black gash above and below his lips. Poor boy was bawling - and when I asked him if he was going to be OK, his main concern was that he had spilled all of his popcorn. Moms full bag did the trick!

*I didn't work (I had a request from Brian to NOT work and to NOT to check my work email). It was so nice to actually have two full days to relax and play and get stuff done around the house.

*Brian let me sleep in Sat. AND Sun. morning - now that's love!

*We had the Franks over on Sat. night - lots of fun! And from this evening I learned how to spell Euchre (thanks Matt!!).

*Nicholas, Brian and myself played SO MUCH Wii!

*I attempted to make Pumpkin Bread and mistook the (t) in the recipe for a tablespoon instead of a teaspoon - again, me and the kitchen DO NOT get along!

*After Nicholas decided he just wanted to be the spinner - Brian and I played Twister. Yeah...Twister...and I am not nearly as nimble as I was when I was younger.
