Comic Relief Jr.

So this week Brian is gone to Canada fishing - and hopefully catching - with his father, sister and brother-in-law. He left on Friday evening and will be back this week Saturday sometime. Before he left I told him he better come back prepared, because who knows what I will hit him with this year (last year he left right after the earthquakes in China which is what started me thinking, and then us traveling down the adoption road)!! Twins?? hahaha!

So, while he is in Canada, doing what he loves to do and re-filling his cup, the boys and I are here...living out our normal lives.

It kind of hit me today, and then in the silence of the house tonight, that we (may just me?) marry those that bring things into our life that we never had. For me, Brian is my stability, my comic relief, my lets-try-new-things-outdoors (I am all things new indoors), and more. What amazes me and fills my heart, is when I see him in our children. For instance tonight, with Nick...

Tonight, on our way home from picking them up at Tinas, I asked Nick "Hey bud, what would you like for supper?" to which he replies "A million dollars."

Just like that.

Serious in tone, until I start my crazy laugh and he starts giggling hysterically.

What??

Yeah, sure pal, right after me!!

So, needless to say, I wasn't able to serve up the moola, so instead I took my little men and my coupons to the drive through at Culvers for a couple of free kids meals. While we are leaving the parking lot (and I am listening to my children, but navigating around other vehicles, so I didn't respond) I hear this conversation from Nick:

"So, who would like to play the Wii with me when we get home?"

"No one?"

"Ok then, just one player. Me"

And while any other person might not find this absolutely gut busting, if you knew Nick and you could have heard this little matter-of-fact voice in the back...you would be doubling over right now too!

Quick Wit, I miss you so much, but Jr. here is learning how to keep mommy smiling!!
